The McDonald’s China Managers’ Convention

The McDonald’s China Managers’ Convention is held every 18 months. This spectacular, large-scale event gathers together thousands of general managers from McDonald’s restaurants across many different Chinese provinces. At the conference, the delegates review their performance set goals for the coming year.

This was the eighth time that Pico has been appointed to event manage this conference. Thanks to our professional international team, deep experience and strong track record for organising international activities, our experts were able to organise an exceptional international conference for our client.

This year’s convention was attended by over 2,700 managers, the highest delegate turnout of any conference in the past 10 years.

Pico were heavily involved in the convention, from concept derivation and creative design, to construction and AV set up to stage design, onsite implementation and hospitality management, including the arrangement of air tickets, hotels and transportation.

The theme of the convention was ‘Our Future Starts Here’, and our team carefully wove this theme through the entire event. This started with the event logo – a flying heart created by folding red paper which was inspired by the art of origami. This design element was adopted throughout the entire venue design, with several heart-shaped paper planes on the ceiling and a ‘runway’ for these planes ran from the entrance all the way to the stage.

As experienced as our team is, there are always some surprising elements that crop up in every event. The most surprising one with the McDonald’s conference was the weather. January in Korea is usually cold, but this year saw record-breaking freezing temperatures. This big freeze coincided with the fabrication period for this event, providing numerous challenges to our personnel on the ground. With the help of gloves, warm drinks and extra effort, our team and our local contractors teamed up to beat the bad weather.
