WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition cum Carnival

WorldSkills Hong Kong is a biennial technical skills competition for young people in Hong Kong. The competition helps select candidates to compete in the international version of WorldSkills Competition, also known as the ‘Skills Olympics’, while creating a platform for young people to excel at vocational skills, strive for professionalism and make a significant contribution to society.

With thousands of young professionals competing in 25 skill areas under one roof, this was one busy weekend. Would-be winners faced off in such diverse categories as beauty therapy, hairdressing, mobile robotics, web design, restaurant service, painting and decorating and many more. The winners will go on to represent Hong Kong at the international WorldSkills Competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August 2015.

Aside from the competition itself, the event included dozens of skills-related activities, where visitors could learn about skills and vocational education, including ‘Have-a-Go’ skills experience sessions, seminars and career advice gatherings. Live performances and other activities created a carnival-like experience for participants and visitors alike.

Pico was crucial to the success of this event, held at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, providing event management services, design and production for venue setup, audio-visual facilities, live broadcast of the performances and activities, website construction, as well as collateral design and production, catering services and transportation logistics.
